Supporting the Sama community’s bright young leaders of tomorrow

Cultural and geographical barriers create access challenges for many communities in southern Philippines. To bridge the gap in access, we created the Alegado Foundation’s Scholars program, an initiative which helps sponsor a select group of motivated students as they pursue their dreams of pursuing higher education in southern Philippines. With the AF Scholars Program, we aim to address this gap in coverage for education by sponsoring a select group of gifted, hardworking students as they pursue their dreams of continuing higher education in southern Philippines.

AF Scholar - Nina Dela Pena

Nina Dela Pena

Nina is a recent graduate of the Western Mindanao State University in iPil, Zamboanga. During her years as a student at WMSU, Nina not only worked tirelessly to earn her degree but also volunteered at local elementary school Litclubs to share her love of learning with children. Her hard work and passion for education certainly paid off: this month, we are thrilled to see her accomplish her dream of receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and to be honored as a Dean’s Lister at WMSU.

Congratulations, Nina, for reaching this tremendous milestone! We wish you the very best and know you have a very bright future ahead of you. Keep up the great work!
